A Rome City patrolman driving his motorcycle was struck from behind by a car Thursday morning but was not seriously hurt.

Rome Police Lieutenant Gary Clayton says Patrolman First Class, or P.F.C., Rusty Blair was hit on Riverside Parkway and was thrown over his handlebars. The crash occurred near the Rome City Fire Department facility.

Blair was taken to Floyd Medical Center to be checked out and was quickly released. The police motorcycle is likely totaled.

Floyd County Police are handling the investigation.
