Life-flight was called to a Cartersville apartment complex Sunday evening after a young toddler fell out of a second story window.

According to Sergeant Jonathan Rogers of the Bartow County Sheriff’s Department, the young child fell through a second story open window through the screen at the Summerset Club apartments just after 6:30 p.m. Sunday evening.

The 2-year-old child reportedly landed head first on the ground and was transported via Life-Flight to Scottish Rite in Atlanta with severe head trauma. The condition of the child is not known at this time.

Sergeant Rogers says he believes the fall was an accident and no foul play is suspected.
