The Rome Braves won again on Wednesday in what was the final ‘Education Day Game’ on this year’s schedule for local school children, meaning first pitch was extra early at 10:30 am.

Behind shutdown starting pitching from Wes Parsons Rome took down Savannah 4-1 in the next-to-last home game of the 2013 season. The Braves have now won 15 of their last 19 games dating back to August 8th, though the club was eliminated earlier this week from any chance of qualifying for the postseason.

On Wednesday the offense was again paced by leadoff hitter Kyle Wren, who had three hits, including a double, in addition to a walk, R-B-I and a stolen base. In less than a half-season with Rome Wren has provided a spark at the top of the order with a .323 average and 31 steals in only 45 games.

The Braves play their final contest of the year at State Mutual Stadium Thursday evening against the Sand Gnats at 7 pm, before closing out the 2013 season over Labor Day weekend on the road against the Charleston RiverDogs.
