It’s been over two years since Billy Bob Thornton and company transformed Downtown Cedartown into a movie set for his self directed film Jayne Mansfield’s Car; and now the long awaited premiere of the cinematic drama is coming to the theater featured in the film.
Cedartown’s locally owned West Theater will premiere the film on Friday, September 13, and according to Julie Andrews, whose family owns the art deco theater, the entire community has been eagerly anticipating the premiere of the movie.
“We’ve been waiting for this for a long time,” said Andrews. “We’re going to have commemorative tickets for Friday and Saturday night that say it was filmed here and has pictures of Cedartown and the movie banner on it.”
In addition to the commemorative tickets being sold at the theater, T-shirts are also being sold with similar designs depicting the filming of the movie. The movie is already available on demand and will be distributed to theaters nationwide on Friday, September 13.
