Brandi Hammond has been named Rome City School’s Teacher of the Year.
Superintendent Dr. Jeff Bearden surprised the Third Grade teacher with balloons at her West Central Elementary classroom.
“Brandi is a professional,” Bearden says. “You go in her classroom, kids are always on task. It’s a very supportive environment. The kids really like her and respect her, but they also know she has very high expectations of them. They meet those expectations.”
Hammond will go on to compete against other Georgia teachers for the state’s Teacher of the Year.
Judy Powell, a 6th grade teacher at Elm Street Elementary, was named runner up.
The two teachers will be honored at a banquet at Rome Middle on October 8th at 7pm.
