A line of strong to severe storms moved through Northwest Georgia last night, bringing with it strong winds and dangerous lightning.

Reports from Floyd County Emergency Management indicated several trees were reported down in the southern section of Floyd County, resulting in over 5,000 power outages.

In Polk County, high winds brought down power lines just north of the Cedartown area, causing approximately 1,600 Georgia Power customers to be without power for much of the night.

Over 4,000 outages were reported in Dalton as a result of a line of storms that affected much of Northwest Georgia.

Georgia Power officials last night estimated power to be restored sometime between midnight and 7 a.m.
