UPDATE(9:06pm) A Silver Creek Man was jailed Sunday evening following an incident that left a 14-year-old boy with a gunshot wound.
Floyd County police were dispatched around 4:20 to a wooded area around Rockmart Rd. after receiving complaints that a group of people there were shooting off guns. Another call revealed that a person had sustained a gunshot wound.
By the time police arrived, the crowd had dispersed. Police say an investigation into the incident revealed that 37-year-old Ennio Melara-Martinez was intoxicated when he was firing off his .22 caliber rifle. While trespassing on the Jack st. property, he also shot a 14-year-old boy in his right leg. Melara-Martinez was arrested at 5:30pm and is charged with cruelty to children in the 2nd degree, reckless conduct, criminal trespass, and discharging a firearm under the influence of alcohol.
The minor was taken to Floyd Medical Center for treatment. His condition remains unknown.

Police attempted to locate the crowd, but it was dispersed by their arrival. The gun shot victim had been relocated to a Woodruff rd. residence, where he was met by EMS.
His condition remains unknown at this time.
