Cartersville Police Chief Tommy Culpepper announced through Tuesday afternoon that his detectives are investigating a claim by a local high school student that she was molested by a teacher.
The original police report for the case says law enforcement was notified of the allegations last Friday November 9th when they were called to Cartersville High School by Principal Steven Butler. The unnamed student, who is a white female and a juvenile, reportedly went to Butler the previous day, claiming a teacher had touched her inappropriately on several occasions on campus. The molesting incidents allegedly took place between Monday October 15th and Thursday November 8th.
The name of the suspect has not been released, but Cartersville police have identified him as a white male. The teacher has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation by police and the Cartersville School System.
