A middle-aged man was killed Monday night in a shooting in North Rome.
According to Rome City Police Supervisor Paul Webber, Willie Terry Slack, age 56, was fatally shot in the chest around 10:30pm on Kingston Ave near his home. Police believe that, after he was wounded, Slack travelled from one residence to another, where he was later found on a porch and pronounced dead by Deputy Coroner Ernie Studard at 11:45pm.
Investigators found one .40-caliber shell casing. They are treating the death as a homicide, but there are no suspects as of yet.
His body will be transported to the Georgia Crime Lab to determine the exact cause of death.
