A sting operation performed by multiple Bartow and Cartersville Law Enforcement Agencies has led to the arrest of four individuals on drug and weapon charges.
On Friday, authorities say that the Bartow-Cartersville Drug Task Force was contacted by Cartersville police after a concerned citizen purchased a handgun from someone on craigslist, only to discover it was stolen. The citizen informed agents that the suspect had also claimed to have a fully automatic Panther Arms Rifle for sale, leading officers to conduct a sting operation to purchase the weapon. As a result of this, task force agents uncovered two stolen firearms, Methamphetamine and money.
The weapons were allegedly taken back in December in a local burglary and in an auto-theft. Four individuals were arrested as result of the incident, including two convicted felons that had active warrants for their arrest. All of the four face methamphetamine possession charges, but Michael Stafford and Jason Todd, both age 30, are charged with two counts of theft by receiving stolen property and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
