Motorists are urged to use caution in their morning commutes, as city officials have spied ice forming on bridges and overpasses.
According to Lt. Black with the Floyd County Police, freezing temperatures have caused ice to begin to accumulate on roadways early Sunday morning. The Department of Transportation has begun the process of salting and sanding city streets, but driving on icy roads is still a concern. Lt. Black estimates that the ice will likely not thaw until at least daybreak, and even then, shady roads and overpasses may still be hazardous.
If you must be out and about his early Sunday morning, please use extreme caution.
