Police officers called to check on a mentally unstable woman ended up being assaulted and threatened at knifepoint Monday night.

According to reports from the Cartersville Police Department, officers found Lacreasha Denise Buggs, age 31, in her Bartow County home about 11 pm, where she claimed she’d been drinking vodka and taking pills. Buggs allegedly said she’d been trying to hurt herself in recent days with drugs and by burning her vagina. Police say while trying to get her to leave the room she grabbed a knife and pointed it at them, then dropped it when threatened with a taser.

Police and EMS finally got Buggs to leave the room but when they put her on a stretcher she allegedly became hostile, biting one of the officers on the arm, punching another cop in the face and attacking the EMT.

Following the altercation Buggs was charged with Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer, Simple Battery on a Police Officer and Obstruction.
