Gas Prices Continue Retreat

Gas prices are down about a nickel here in Georgia in the last week, but that positive consumer trend is soon expected to change.

The latest report from AAA-South shows drivers paying lower gas prices here in Georgia and across the nation in the last seven days. Jessica Brady with AAA says if prices drop again this week it will be at a slower pace. The cost of oil per barrel went up last week due to positive economic news, and with spring set to arrive, the demand for fuel is going to spike, and is expected to drive up prices.

The nationwide average is down a penny this week to $3.69 per gallon for regular unleaded fuel, while the Georgia average fell five cents to $3.59. Cities across Northwest Georgia have lower prices than either of those averages, led by Calhoun and Dalton at $3.43 per gallon. Fuel can be found between $3.49 and $3.55 in Cartersville, Rome, Lindale, Dallas, Hiram and Rockmart.
