A case scheduled to be heard in Floyd County Superior Court Thursday morning involving a laid-off Floyd County School system employee filing suit against her bosses was issued a continuance.

According to a court official, the plaintiff in the case asked for a continuance in order to gather more information contained in documents in an Open Records Act request.

Coosa High School counselor Gilda Day and other unnamed employees who fell victim to the school system’s Reduction in Force Plan are named in the suit. Attorney Julie Oinonen said the some 25 Open Records Act requests cost approximately $5,000 and could not be delivered until after the Monday Fair Dismissal Hearing for Day.

Documents such as emails and text messages from the Superintendent to school board members regarding the RIF were included in the records request. No word on when or if the hearing will be rescheduled.
