Following an off day to allow for nearly 1,000 miles of travel the Rome Braves will begin a 7-game-8-day road trip in New Jersey this evening against the Lakewood BlueClaws.
Despite having multiple games postponed thanks to heavy rains and sustaining the loss of arguably their two best position players to promotions, Rome has managed to win four straight games and pull within a single victory of the .500 mark. The Braves swept a Sunday night double-header against Asheville to improve to 8-9 in the second half and are currently 3.5 games out of first place in the Southern Division.
Rome will travel from New Jersey to Hagerstown, Maryland for a four-game-series starting Friday night against the Suns. Oddly enough Rome faces both ends of the spectrum on the road trip as the BlueClaws have the worst record in the Sally-League since the All-Star break while Hagerstown has the best overall mark.
The Braves return to State Mutual Stadium from the long trip Wednesday July 17th.
