By: Kevin Karel (WRGA News)

Outdoor retail giant Cabela's has announced they plan to bring a new 100,000 square foot store to Acworth which will be new ground for the company in the Southeast.

In a statement the company says the store will employ about 200 people and be built in the area of I-75/Highway 92 with construction set to get underway this fall and a grand opening in fall of 2014.

In addition to equipment for hunting, fishing and camping the Cabela’s will include attractions such as an indoor archery range, a mountain replica, boat shop and two eateries. There are less than 50 Cabela’s stores in North America and none in this region of the country.

Cabela's is the latest positive economic development for Northwest Georgia joining projects such as voestalpine in Bartow County, Lakepoint and Bass Pro Shops in Emerson, Lowe's Distribution Center in Shannon and Engineered Floors which will expand in both Whitfield and Murray counties.

Cabela’s was believed to be eyeing a location in Bartow County in recent years but the project was eventually abandoned amid rumors of disapproval from the state level.
