Gas prices keep falling and consumers keep winning. That’s the word from Triple-A South in this week’s fuel report as the cost of a gallon of gas continues to drop. The statewide-average is down $0.08 this week, from $3.69 to $3.61 per gallon. In the last month, Georgia’s average gas price is down dramatically from a high of $3.85.

Here in Northwest Georgia, prices in the seven-county area are down significantly across the board, with the cheapest fuel still being found in Whitfield, Bartow and Gordon counties. Dalton has the least-expensive gas at $3.45 per gallon, with Cartersville close behind at $3.46 per gallon. Calhoun has a service station offering fuel for $3.47 per gallon. The cheapest gas in those three counties is down between $0.06 and $0.07 since last Monday September 24th.

Floyd County prices remain higher than most of their neighbors, as this week’s cheapest fuel is $3.55 per gallon, down $0.09 in Rome since last week.

Paulding County has gas for $3.53 per gallon in both Dallas and Hiram, down $0.06. Polk County is nearly identical with a low price of $3.54 found in Rockmart.

Chattooga County and Summerville is again home to the most expensive fuel in NWGA with their least expensive gas currently priced at $3.71 per gallon, down $0.08.

The nation-wide average for a gallon of regular unleaded fuel is down slightly in the last week, from $3.81 to $3.78, and down about a nickel in the last month. Nearby South Carolina has the cheapest gas price on average in the country.
