A death in Floyd County last month deemed suspicious by law enforcement has now landed two people in jail in Detroit, Michigan.
According to a statement released Thursday afternoon by the Floyd County Police Department, a pair of homicide suspects was arrested in Detroit after being tracked to the upper Midwest by the Floyd County Sheriff’s Fugitive Task Force and the U.S. Marshal’s service.
Laura Ann Payne and her boyfriend, Edward Eugene Gaines, both of Rome, are in the process of being extradited from Detroit back to Floyd County to face Murder and other charges in the death of 76-year-old Jozell Payne, the father of the female suspect.
Payne’s body was discovered in his home on Callier Springs Road the morning of Thursday October 18th and police immediately termed the death suspicious, later sending the remains to the GBI Crime Lab for an autopsy.
