Floyd County Manager Blaine Williams submitted his letter of resignation Monday, following his appointment as Assistant Manager in the Athens-Clarke County Government.

Serving as Floyd County Manager since Kevin Poe left the same position on December 4 of last year, Williams embarks on the Assistant Manager position for the Athens-Clarke County, which responsibilities will include Transportation and Public Works, Utilities, Solid Waste, Transit, Planning, Building Inspection, Airport, and Human and Economic Development, among others.

Williams served as Floyd County Assistant Manager for over four year before being promoted to the head job.

Williams' final day on the job in Floyd will be December 31.
