Police ask public for help in solving New Years Eve murder

Rome Police have yet to uncover any significant leads in the New Years Eve fatal shooting that claimed the life of a Rome man.

The shooting occurred on Kingston Avenue just before 11 p.m. on December 31, resulting in the death of 56-year-old Terry Slack. Lt. Gary Clayton of the Rome Police Department Investigative Division says detectives are diligently working the case from all angles.

“The investigators are out looking into any possible leads, any calls that come in...any follow up that they do. We’re just talking to anybody and everybody you can.”

Clayton says no suspects or even a motive for the crime has yet been determined.

A number of individuals have provided accounts and other information to detectives during the ongoing investigation. However, police are asking anyone who has information pertaining to the fatal shooting incident to contact the investigations division of the Rome Police Department at (706) 238-5111. Calls can be made anonymously.
