A Silver Creek woman has been charged with aggravated assault after police say she shot her husband multiple times Sunday morning.
According to a report from Floyd County Police, officers were dispatched to a Green Valley Rd. residence in Silver Creek shortly before 3am in reference to a reported shooting. Upon their arrival, they found an adult male victim who had received several gunshot wounds.
Floyd County Jail records indicate that 58-year-old Janice Charlene Thornton shot her husband multiple times with a .22 caliber pistol, causing serious injury. The man was taken to Floyd Medical Center for treatment, but his condition remains unknown. Thornton was arrested and taken to the Floyd County Jail.
In relation to the incident, she has been charged with aggravated assault under the family violence act and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
Floyd County Police are investigating a shooting that occurred overnight in Silver Creek that left a man with multiple gunshot wounds.
According to Investigator Ojilvia Lom with the Floyd County Police, authorities were dispatched to an address in Silver Creek shortly before 3am Sunday. An investigation there revealed one adult male had received gunshot wounds. He was taken to Floyd Medical Center and is being treated, but his condition remains unknown.
Janice Charlene Thornton, age 58, has been arrested in connection with the incident, though her exact charges are not known at this time.
