***UPDATE: 2/10***

City police have confirmed that Friday evening’s gunshot victim is in stable condition following emergency surgery at Floyd Medical Center.

According to Rome City Police, Joseph McCluskey, who is reportedly in his mid-40s, was found Friday night around 7:30 lying in the parking lot of Hi-Tech Fuels on North Avenue. Authorities say that McCluksey was on foot in the area of North Broad St when he was shot in the abdomen and made his way to the gas station for help. An employee at the food-mart called 911 when a customer alerted them to McCluskey’s presence.

As the victim was in a great deal of pain, officers were unable to question him Friday and Saturday. As of right now, city police maintain there are no leads.
