UPDATE 8:30 AM: The Georgia State Patrol has identified the victim of Sunday night's fatal crash as Ann Kathleen Tolbert, age 85, of Rome. She had been riding in the right-rear-passenger seat of a 2001 Buick LeSabre which was turning from Georgia 1 onto Broad Street when it was struck by a 1986 model Toyota 4-Runner shortly before 7:30 pm.
Betty Rowston, age 87 was driving the Buick, which also contained three other elderly passengers in addition to the deceased and the driver. The Toyota was driven by 18-year-old Dalton Cole Warren Grant. All involved are Rome residents. The injured were transported to Floyd Medical Center for treatment.
An elderly woman has died as a result of injuries she sustained in a two-vehicle wreck Sunday evening.
According to Rome City Police Lt. Luis Johnson, the unidentified 85-year-old woman was one of five passengers in a Buick Lesabre travelling southbound on Turner McCall around 7:30pm. The Buick was turned left on North Broad St. when it was struck by a Jeep.
There were three injuries reported, two of which were transported by EMS to an area hospital. Their condition remains unknown.
According to Deputy Coroner Ernie Studard, the identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the wreck.
