Longtime president of Georgia Northwestern Technical College Dr. Craig McDaniel has been named head man at the International Center for the Technical College System of Georgia.

In a Thursday afternoon press release from TCSG Commissioner Ron Jackson, McDaniel will move to his new position on April 1.

The International Center provides program development for collaborations between the TCSG colleges and higher education systems in other countries that are interested in improving their technical education and workforce development programs through the sharing of TCSG people, programs and best practices.

Jackson announced he has appointed Pete McDonald as acting president while a search process to find a successor gets underway. McDaniel was named president of Coosa Valley Technical College in 1998 and became the leader of the newly consolidated Georgia Northwestern Technical College in 2009.
