Floyd County Police were led on a high-speed chase Friday night by a driver who was allegedly under the influence of drugs.
Floyd County Jail records indicate that, around 10pm an officer attempted to stop a vehicle on GA Loop 1 for a broken taillight. When the officer flipped on his lights, the car sped off, blowing through stop signs and driving on the wrong side of the road at speeds close to 80mph. The driver, 22-year-old Zachary Tyler Worsham of Silver Creek, recklessly passed cars in his desperate attempt to get away, even reportedly almost hitting one head-on. When he was finally apprehended, police found a shotgun in his backseat, as well as Marijuana. He allegedly told his arresting officer he had smoked the drug before setting out on his high-speed venture.
Worsham is facing an impressive 11 charges related to the incident, including felony attempt to elude and possession of a firearm in the commission of a crime.
