It’s official: Jamie McCord will be Floyd’s new County Manager beginning May 15th.
On Tuesday, county commissioners approved a contract of employment with the now ex-director of Rome City Public Works, Jamie McCord. Included in the agreement, is a $120,000 salary, a company cell phone and car, and a $250,000 life insurance plan.
When he assumes his position in three weeks, McCord says not to expect any radical changes---at least at first.
“Well, I think I need to come in and get grounded---get some good experience with the team that’s already in place. I certainly don’t necessarily want to come in and change the world, but just improve on what’s going right and maybe fix what’s not going right,” McCord says. “The county’s been well-managed for many years, been very stable. I’m just looking forward to bringing my 20 years of experience in government to the county. Hopefully, I can lead us into the future.”
McCord says management has been a goal of his since he first stepped into local government some 10 years ago. The opportunity to stay in his hometown and fulfill this ambition is a dream come true.
