FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR FLOYD, CHATTOOGA

Apr 28, 2013 -- 2:03pm

ALERTS: FLASH FLOOD WARNING ISSUED FOR FLOYD & CHATTOOGA COUNTIES UNTIL 7:45pm.
FLASH FLOOD WATCH ISSUED FOR PORTIONS OF NORTH GEORGIA INCLUDING FLOYD & CHATTOOGA COUNTIES UNTIL 8pm.

The big story today is weather---heavy rain, gusty winds and the chance for some severe isolated thunderstorms.

The National Weather Service is predicting up to 2.5 inches of rain for Northwest Georgia as a system moves over area throughout the rest of today and into the overnight hours. The main threat appears to be frequent lightening and the heavy rain, but, according to the weather service, with decent instability and marginal shear, there is a chance for strong thunderstorms.

And, it just gets better---rain and thunderstorms could linger just long enough for the Monday morning commute.
