State officials have recently announced a major layoff at a Bartow County Manufacturer.
According to Hometown Headlines
, 91 employees were laid-off at Cartersville’s Applied Thermoplastic Resources in early May, with the state only just reporting the numbers. The Erwin St. company, which began as a research project at Georgia Tech 18 years ago, was named Small Manufacturer of the Year in 2012 by the Technical College System of Georgia, and was touted to grow its employment by 30-50% and double its yearly revenues.
Attempts to contact the company have been unsuccessful. Hometown Headlines
reports this is the first major lay-off in Northwest Georgia this year.
