A Roman has been appointed to head a major department with the state under Governor Nathan Deal.
The current deputy commissioner of Global Commerce Gretchen Corbin will become the next commissioner for the Department of Community Affairs. Corbin, having served in the Georgia Department of Economic Development since 1998, will take on her new role with the state on August 1.
She replaces Commissioner Mike Beatty who is leaving the post to serve as president and CEO of a nonprofit organization. Corbin is a graduate of Clemson University and University of Oklahoma’s Economic Development Institute.
The appointment by Governor Deal was one of several announced in a Thursday afternoon release from the Governor’s Office of Communications. She currently resides in Rome with her family.
