There are less than 62 days until the Berry College Vikings kick-off their inaugural football season under the Saturday night lights of Barron Stadium.
The team roster so far consists of 114 guys, some of whom, like Darlington’s Luke Cook, were as recently recruited as last Friday.
With the team nearly formed and out-fitted, the only thing missing from the budding Viking players is their own turf, but according to Coach Tony Kunczewski, it could be 2014 before they play a true home game.
“We’re still working hard to finish up some fundraising on the stadium. We’re hopeful that we can get it up and running for the 2014 season,” Kunczewski says. “We’re fortunate in this town to have great venues to be able to play at.”
Berry will alternate their home games between both Barron and Darlington Stadiums. Their official kick-off will be at Barron on September 7th.
