A Rome teen on the run from cops hid from them in a stranger’s closet, police say.
On the way to a health assessment, Floyd County Jail Records claim 17-year-old Ashton Leigh Ann Spears escaped from police custody Friday afternoon and broke into a home on Elliot Dr. There, Spears took residence in the closet, hording food and a laptop inside with her. When the home’s owner came home and happened upon the escapee in her master bedroom, Spears begged her not to scream as people were after her.
The resident did just that, and more---the woman forcibly removed Spears from the home. Spears was later arrested charged with 1st degree Burglary and felony escape.
