Floyd County Poilce report scam

051414 9 a.m.

The Floyd County Police has received more complaints of a phone scam involving parties that represent themselves as police officers or sheriff’s deputies threatening to arrest people if they do not send money to the subjects calling.

These scams involve a supposed missed court appearance or missed jury duty.

Please be aware that NO police agency will call you and inform you if they have a warrant on you that can be corrected with payment. Warrants , once signed must be served on the person named in the warrant, and no genuine police officer or deputy will ever ask you for money, especially using a method such as green dot cards or western union transfers. We urge the public to be wary of any telephone calls that ask for payment in these methods.

If you have any question about the phone call you are receiving, or the identity of the caller, hang up on the caller and notify the police by calling the Rome Floyd County 911 center.
