The first 2013 SPLOST revenue check is expected to be in around May 27th.
Meanwhile, preliminary work on the various county projects is well underway. According to County Manager Jamie McCord, the contract for the Jail Controls project has been awarded and will start in about two weeks.
Also, they are working on engineering for the H-VAC upgrades.
Superior Court Clerk Barbara Penson and her staff are working with Assistant County Manager Noah Simon on software updates.
The Barron Road project is in utility at the moment and they have been negotiating the right-of-way required for that.
One project that will get started a little later on is the new Animal Control Facility.
McCord says they have looked at around 2-dozen possible sites but nothing has been chosen yet.
The County’s SPLOST Overview Committee will meet May 23rd. A SPLOST Committee update with the City of Rome, Floyd County and Cave Spring has been scheduled for June 19th at the E.O.C., located on East 12th Street.
