Bartow County man facing child molestation charges

A Bartow County man is in jail after police found a runaway juvenile living in his home.
According to a news release from the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were contacted by North Carolina officials on May 28 about a runaway juvenile possibly located at a residence in White.
When deputies arrived, 30-year-old Matthew Mastrom admitted the juvenile was in his residence. The investigation revealed that Mastrom had traveled from Georgia to North Carolina to pick up the juvenile and that they were involved in a sexual relationship.
Malestrom is charged with interference with child custody, two counts of aggravated child molestation, seven counts of child molestation, statutory rape, enticing a child for indecent purposes, and obstruction of an officer.
